New Age EV Charging

Mission
When we initiated the case study, Flexicharge was still a relatively new player in the market with no product line of its own and no clear brand identity. Our mission was to design a highly functional and desirable EV charging station that belongs in a ‘new age’ product eco system. The product had to stand in a saturated market and become a clear calling card for the brand.
Insights
Research showed that the EV Charging station market is clearly divided into two distinct segments: EV charging station companies and Automotive OEM’s. The first mentioned focuses primarily on the business-to-business market, the second is represented primarily in the business-to-consumer market. And while it is important for both parties that the product be functional and cost efficient, it is notable that the automotive OEM charging stations look more attractive. This is mainly due to more attention being paid to color, material expression, details, logo placement and other overall clever graphics. It quickly became clear that by properly implementing the aforementioned elements, Flexicharge could gain an edge over their competitors.
Urban Couture
After consultation with the client about the package, functionality, theme, manufacturability and scalability the choice was made to combine the ‘Urban’ and ‘Couture’ concepts. Once the necessary adjustments were made, it seemed like the two formed a couple from the very first moment.
